Lead Computer Operator

Senior most IS decision maker on evenings and weekends. Works under general direction, has technical knowledge of UNIX, MVS and Novell computer operations, but also has duties of instructing, directing and checking the work of other computer operators. Ensures Data Center compliance with established SLA's, provides input, feedback and root case analysis. Monitor and troubleshoot the existing environment, including but not limited to: MVS, UNIX, Novell, Tivoli, etc. Assists in enterprise wide operations scheduling. May assume responsibilities of supervisor in their absence. Proficient PC skills with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, etc. Handle critical operations applications, research and resolve problems. Supervise projects and other operators to meet goals and deadlines.

Qualifications
HIRING REQUIREMENTS

Education: Two or four year degree in computer related field.

Experience: Minimum of three years previous mainframe computer experience using MVS and JES or distributed Client Server experience.

Specific Skills: JCL, COBOL, MVS, C++, UNIX or NOVELHIRING PREFERENCES

Experience: Three years of JCL, COBOL, MVS, C++, UNIX or Novel experience. Automated scheduling system experience. Knowledge of BCBSNC job and schedule names or LAN. Prior supervisory experience a plus. Three years in Computer Operations environment.

Specific Skills: Good judgment, ability to work independently and proven organizational skills
