Lead Database Developer - Oracle -- CMIS

The UBS Investment Bank based in Stamford, Connecticut is seeking a Lead Oracle Database Developer for our CMIS (Client Management Information System) team. The successful candidate will be responsible for a small team of 2-3 Developers managing the implementation of projects with the CMIS environment. CMIS is used across all time zones - APAC, Europe and the Americas and contains a number of key dimensions e.g. Client, Product, Market information. One component of the system involves the loading of data; the other part involves reporting on the data loaded. The loads infrastructure is OLTP based on Sybase with replication (between Sybase and Oracle). The reporting infrastructure is based on Oracle with Business Objects and in-house developed web GUIs.

The candidate will have proven team leadership experience with relevant design, analysis, testing and implementation skills essential for IT development projects. This is a hands-on role, so the candidate will be expected to spend a large portion of their time developing code and providing technical assistance to the rest of the team as required.

Oracle and Data Warehousing will be the core skills required . The successful candidate should also have a strong appreciation of Unix on Solaris and exposure to Sybase or Business Objects. Development activities will include writing ETL procedures to denormalize data within the CMIS warehouse, produce aggregate tables for use by the web tools and writing extracts to distribute data to downstream systems. In addition the candidate will be expected to contribute to the strategic direction of the application suite.

The candidate will also have knowledge of financial trading process and the investment banking business. Self-motivation combined with a proactive attitude are core attributes. The candidate must work well within an interdisciplinary environment, split across London, Zurich and Stamford and will be expected to work very closely with the business, developing and implementing within defined timescales.

Basic Qualifications

Professional and Technical Requirements:

* A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or closely related technical field of study.

* A minimum of 5 years experience working in a Database Development capacity (either Oracle or Sybase).

Preferred Qualifications

* 4+ years unix in general (ftp, telnet, shell usage, scripting for c-shell and korn-shell)

* 7+ years Oracle 9i (PL/SQL for Oracle, Data warehousing, Performance tuning)

* 3+ years team leadership experience within IT development projects.

* Business Objects report development desirable (including use of the Designer/Supervisor/Reporter/WEBI)

* Sybase v12 knowledge is desirable (Transact-SQL for Sybase, basic Sybase replication know how)

* A Graduate degree ion in Computer Science is a decided advantage.

* Excellent English language interpersonal skills and German language skills is a valuable asset.

* Work experience in the financial services industry is an advantage.
