Lead Desktop Technician

Job Overview

 

The Lead Desktop Technician directs the desktop team in maintaining top quality service and support for end user software and devices such as laptops, desktops, printers, and PDAs through the use of innovative deployment technologies and effective leadership strategies.

 

Performance Responsibilities

 Lead a team of district desktop technicians in the effective deployment and maintenance of client-server applications.Implement quality control procedures to ensure superior service and support for desktop/laptop users.Effectively diagnose and troubleshoot computer malfunction relating to faulty hardware, software, server and/or network.Coordinate desktop and peripheral device maintenance through the use of the district?s Desktop Technician team.Lead activities with desktop technicians to plan and coordinate all desktop maintenance activities.Communicate effectively with staff and students regarding maintenance of technology.Oversee prioritization and resolution of work orders in the technology helpdesk system.Deploy and maintain operating systems and software titles for each building via disk imaging and other automated deployment technologies.Conduct training as necessary for staff in the proper use of Technology equipment.Effectively plan and coordinate large desktop and laptop rollouts.Research and implement preventive maintenance procedures for district technology devices.Special projects as required.Other duties as assigned.

 

Job QualificationsMicrosoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCSDT) CertificationExperience deploying applications in a Citrix Presentation Server environmentStrong leadership abilityExperience with large-scale computer deployments and automated software deployment technologiesGood oral and written communication skillsExperience creating and deploying disk imagesSound knowledge of desktops, laptops, and other common peripheral devicesAbility to diagnose complicated Microsoft and third-party software issues.Knowledge of hardware warranty procedures
