Job Summary:

Reporting to the Unix Team Lead, responsible for evaluating, diagnosing problems and resolving system issues. Perform troubleshooting for complex hardware and software problems, along with installing, configuring and maintaining Linux systems. Perform all duties assigned by the Unix Team Lead. Must know, practice and ensure that company policies and procedures and state and federal laws are followed at all times. Ensure that no company, employee or customer information is inappropriately divulged to unauthorized parties.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Ensure proper follow-through on all directives, bulletins and schedules from the Corporate Office and Unix Team Lead. Maintain a good flow of communication with the Department employees and within the Corporation.

2. Perform daily maintenance of RedHat AS Linux servers and Intel-based hardware including monitoring, tuning, upgrading and securing for a 24X7X365 operation.

3. Responsible for configuration, monitoring and reporting of backups for all Linux systems.

4. Maintain efficient operation of systems, network and storage environment by automating tasks, improving monitoring and evolving existing processes.

5. Understand and solve problems as they arise with various systems components.

6. Contribute to the group documentation repository with accurate and up-to-date information.

7. Work directly with development and operations staff to assist with systems related issues and planning for infrastructure requirements.

8. Practice and promote teamwork at all times. Set a good personal example of attitude and performance.

9. Monitor all area related conditions, property and equipment within corporate standards for cleanliness, proper maintenance and safety. Advise Maintenance of all breakdowns and maintenance immediately.

10. Make sure all area conditions do not threaten employee safety. Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents immediately. Practice and instruct all employees in proper loss prevention and reaction procedures. Report all incidents properly and immediately.

Job Qualifications:

Educational Requirements and Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in a related area or the equivalent in experience is required. At least three (3) years experience in a Linux Administrator is required. Must have experience in an IBM hardware environment with patch management and performance tuning. Experience with clustering and WebSphere is preferred.
