MQ Series Administrator

CIBER has an immediate need for an MQ Series Administrator in the Portland, OR area with the following skills.

 

Functions:

1.  Knowledge of web-related technologies.

1.1  General networking.

1.1.1  TCP/IP concepts and addressing.

1.1.2  LAN/WAN technologies and specifications.

1.1.3  Hub/Switch/Router configuration concepts.

1.1.4  Name resolution protocols, such as DNS, WINS, ARP.

1.1.5  Proxy Services (both forward and reverse).

1.2  Domains and Certificates:

1.2.1  DNS and Domain Registration concepts.

1.2.2  Server certificates (for SSL) and Code Signing.

1.3  Advanced Web Farm Architecture concepts:

1.3.1  Load balancing and fault tolerance.

1.3.2  Security (firewalls, network address translation, intrusion detection, etc.).

1.3.3  Server clustering and high availability.

1.3.4  External storage and backup strategies.

1.3.5  Application messaging.

1.4  Extensive Microsoft web experience:

1.4.1  Windows IIS, Transaction Server, Site Server.

1.4.2  Windows SharePoint services (Teams services, Portal services).

1.5  Advanced experience with:

1.5.1  IBM WebSphere Business Integration Server (MQ Series, broker, adapter framework).

1.5.2  MQ Software?s Q Pasa! Console and Agents

1.5.3  Apache and Apache-based web servers.

1.5.4  Familiarity with other web servers, application servers (e.g. Tomcat or JBOSS), portals (WebSphere preferred), and middleware.

1.6  Web content and application replication and deployment methodologies.

1.7  Knowledge of web application development processes and tools:

1.7.1  Java script, VB Script.

1.7.2  COM / DCOM / .NET.

1.7.3  Java Beans, Enterprise Java Beans, CORBA.

1.7.4  Proprietary systems: Vignette, Siebel, Cold Fusion, etc.

1.7.5  XML

1.8  Database concepts and connectivity issues.

1.8.1  SQL

1.8.2  DB2

1.9  Server platforms:

1.9.1  Windows (Advanced) Server 2000/2003.

1.9.2  Solaris (8,9,10)/AIX (4.x, 5.x).

1.9.3  Familiarity with mainframe (z/OS) operating concepts.

2.  Performs and often leads project activities related to web server administration and application deployment.

3.  Committed to application development process, working within enterprise change control guidelines and working with development teams to ensure that adequate quality assurance work has been completed before applications are promoted to production.

4.  Resolves routine to advanced technical issues; acts as escalation point for difficult technical issues.

5.  Analyzes system and application software malfunctions and corrects or assists in problem resolution.

6.  Provides consultation to developers, designers.  Offers suggestions on best uses of web technology.

7.  Develops and publishes best practices and standards.

8.  Consults with senior personnel and/or management on web-related issues that directly impacts company personnel and relations.

9.  Evaluates, installs and maintains web software and hardware.

10.  Demonstrates a commitment to quality and the process of continual improvement.

11.  Identifies and responds actively and with sensitivity to the needs of customers and is open and responsive to change.

12.  Provides off-hour support of web applications and web-related infrastructure.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Two-year technical or business degree, and the equivalent of four years of Information Technology experience.

Must have excellent decision-making, problem solving and technical writing skills. Advanced technical proficiency in relevant operating systems, applications and/or languages is preferred.
