Mainframe Achitect
Core IT - Systems Architecture is seeking an IT professional with business
systems development experience to support the Viewing domain applications.
The Systems Architect will work with project teams to implement best practices
in software development and to develop architectural blueprints for the
systems. You will work with subject matter experts and other Architectural
roles to develop "As Is" and "To Be" architectures, develop proof of concepts,
and provide mentorship to development teams. You will work with Business
Architects to transition business models to systems models.
In addition the Systems Architect has the following responsibilities:
a) Develops strategic, tactical, and operational plans for building system
architectures that are tied to the organization?s business and technology
strategy.
b) Ensures designs adhere to architectural blueprints and coding standards.
c) Contributes to the strategic planning process for information technology.
d) Works with the Business Systems Analyst to translate systems requirements
into application architectures.
e) Works with Configuration Management team to ensure Configuration Management
best practices are followed.
Effectively communicates to ensure successful implementation of standards and
procedures by:
a) Maintaining awareness of industry trends and practices.
b) Organizing and documenting approved standards and procedures.
c) Supporting management in the implementation of approved standards and
procedures by providing appropriate staff training.
d) Monitoring the ongoing operation of approved standards and procedures,
reporting findings and recommending action programs.
Skills Required:
Prior IT Systems Architecture career experience, including IBM/MVS, TSO/IPF,
PL/1, VSAM, JCL, FileAid, REXX experience, J2EE, Java Servlets, JDBC, TomCat.
Prior experience with mainframe data integration strategies and tools.
*Extensive experience with architectural patterns and object oriented
analysis and design.
*Extensive experience with the Rational Unified Process (RUP) and mentoring
development teams.
* Prior facilitator experience with the ability to:
1)Lead Object Oriented design and analysis sessions,
2)Build consensus among teams with varying viewpoints,
3) Effectively listen and question,
4)Communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing.
* Ability to work at varying levels of abstraction from the conceptual to the
physical.
*Hands on experience with application servers such as Websphere, BEA or JBOSS.
*Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing business and technical environment.
* Ability to interact effectively with senior management, business experts,
software development teams, and end-users.
* B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent degree or experience
Skills Desired:
* Prior IT career experience as a lead developer, or member of a development
team.
* Experience with object oriented analysis & design (OOAD) techniques,
methodologies (e.g. Unified Modeling Language (UML)), and toolsets (e.g.
Rational XDE or RSA ).
*Experience with application servers such as WebSphere, BEA or JBOSS.
*Experience (hands-on ) with building J2EE distributed systems.
*Experience (hands-on) with SOA architectures, BPEL and WSDL.
*Experience with Alpha, VMS, Fortran, RDB, DCL, Sun or equivalents.
