Mainframe z/OS Systems Programmer

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years hands-on experience as an MVS (OS/390) systems programmer in an IBM Mainframe environment. Job duties include supporting a z800 at a remote site with four LPAR’s currently running z/OSe 1.5. Qualified candidate will also need to support third party mainframe software and provide support to two z800’s on-site currently running z/OS 1.4.


 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION


 


o Strong technical skills and 5+ years experience with z/OS or z/OSe. o Responsible for all aspects of installations, upgrades, and maintenance to z/OS. o Responsible for I/O configurations and working with the HMC. o Responsible for disaster recovery planning and testing. o Evaluate z/OS performance and make recommendations for remediation. o Experience with AFP printing and PSF (MVS Download) printing products. o Experience installing and maintaining IBM and third party software products. These include TWS (OPC) scheduler, Systems Automation, DFDSS/sms & hsm, RACF, ATAM (Tape Mgmt), PSF, MIM, StreamWeaver, Finalist and VPS. o Excellent problem resolution skills required. o Experience with project management methodologies and best practices. o Customer service focus. o Strong organizational, leadership and time management skills. o Must be highly motivated, self-starter. o Able to perform hardware and software upgrades in a timely manner.

o Experience with Mainframe UNIX system services, SMS routines and storage management.

 o Position requires off hours or 24 x 7 support

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION o BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
