Manager Database Administration

OVERVIEW

?  Information technology leadership position managing a group of data base administrators (DBA) in support of multiple property and casualty insurance business solutions.

?  Primary role will be to work closely with the business and IT managers, in a matrix organization, to understand business processes and business requirements, to translate them into database technology solutions, and to oversee the implementation and maintenance within the database administration team.

?  Provide input into long-term IT strategies, and is responsible for the development of action plans for meeting IT objectives and business unit solutions.

?  Responsible for managing production support (24 by 7), ensuring compliance with service levels and client satisfaction, establishing and maintaining data access and security for system components in database administration area.

?  Responsible for overall management and delivery of approximately 200 instances of Oracle and SQL Server databases supporting environments for development, quality assurance, testing and production,.

?  Responsible for the development and standardization of database support procedures and system monitoring conforming to Company standards and supporting audit act ivies.

?  Working with team members, the DBA manager will establish individual objectives and individual development plans to develop and manage retention strategies for team members and providing mentoring, support and feedback on performance.

QUALIFICATIONS

?  Minimum 5 years experience as a manager and 10 years experience as an Oracle DBA (may be coincident with the management experience);

?  Related BS degree or equivalent experience required.

?  Candidate must have strong communication skills (both written and oral) and successful experience at team motivation.
