Systems Engineer
Position Description:
The Systems Engineer is responsible for consulting on matters concerning network design, estimating, deployment, security and documentation. This position is a member of the Infrastructure, Collaboration and Security practice.
Role Summary:
The Systems Engineer handles a variety of roles ranging from design & installation of complex networks to assessing and recommending security solutions for the networks. The role involves pre-sales support including project definition, scoping/sizing, analysis of technical alternatives, and the presentations and/or proposal of results. The primary role will be to design and install complex networks working with clients and vendors to find cost-effective solutions, utilizing varying tools/hardware and software alternatives. Occasionally, the position may mentor other team members including client personnel. This position may serve in either an individual or team environment with the potential of serving in varying capacities including technical project leadership or technician depending on the needs of the project and the team (client and internal)
Primary Tasks:
? Design and install complex networks working with clients and vendors to find cost-effective solutions.
? Troubleshoot operational problems by using a variety of PC hardware/software troubleshooting techniques
? Evaluate new hardware and network software products to determine possible use by clients
? Document all additions, deletions, and changes to local area networks; create network documentation and user guides
? Complete all assigned projects within time estimates for projects and complete all projects within Oakwood/client established quality standards and guidelines
? Develop and maintain expertise in one or more of Oakwood?s product and service offerings
? Audit, assess and recommend changes to client networks and security.
? Support sales effort through sales calls, proposal writing and proposal presentation
? Provide project status updates to sales, management, and client contacts
? Utilize all resources both internal and external to resolve project issues in a timely manner
? Devise, document and deploy Disaster Recovery and Business continuity solutions
? Maintain client files
? Provide research data and other types of support to staff and clients
? Provide telephone support for previous projects and clients
? Support and maintain Oakwood?s core values and purpose
? Develop, expand and maintain customer relationships
? Report consulting and non-billable time on a timely basis
? Promote Oakwood within the community
Required Skills and Experience:
? Over 5 years of practical experience in infrastructure work preferred
? Certification as a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) is preferred. Consideration given to comparable work experience.
? Certification as a Certified Information Systems Security Professional is preferred. Consideration given to comparable work experience.
? Diverse technical background with experience in various roles, platforms, architectures, packages and technologies
? Proven track record in core skills for infrastructure, centering around customer, project and client/staff deliverables
? Professional image and demeanor with the ability to present oneself in a consultative, confident manner while treating clients and team members with the highest level of professionalism
? Possess an entrepreneurial nature with the capability to understand multiple facets of a business environment along with an interest in contributing to Oakwood Systems Group, Inc.
? Ability to communicate effectively with different levels of management, as well as both the business and technical communities
? History of keeping up-to-date with technology
? Strong career interest with a focus on professional improvement
? Exposure to leadership role a plus
? Minimum of Bachelors Degree preferred
? Strong verbal/written communication skills
? Demonstrated ability to be productive independently and/or as a team member
? Presentation skills a plus
? Diverse understanding of industry based tools, software and techniques
? Strong organizational, interpersonal and analytical skills
? Demonstrated understanding of basic estimating procedures, capable of assembling a basic project plan and good work tracking habits
? In depth knowledge of Network Technologies:
? Tools: Sniffing Software, Network Monitors, Performance Monitors, Syslog Servers, Active Directory (ADSI),NSLOOKUP, TRACERT, DIG, Scanners,
? Products: Antivirus products, Exchange, ISA Server, SQL Server, Windows, Linux, Cisco, MS Office, MS Project, Visio
? Technologies: IPSEC, IP Schema?s, Routing and Switching, VPN, RAID
? Diverse exposure to industries, solutions (i.e. eBusiness, DW, CRM, etc.) and platforms a plus
? Open to the potential for travel

Manager (LEVEL)
A Manager is a individual with a proficiency in managing client expectations, high visibility projects, and project teams. They are adept in communication skills, requirements gathering, process facilitation and/or industry expertise. A Manager demonstrates a strong sense of leadership, judgment, and decision-making competence. These dynamic individuals successfully, and deliver technology solutions for our clients? business needs. They have a demonstrated proficiency in team-building, mentoring and counseling. They are active participants in the interviewing/hiring process and make suggestions for training the individuals on their team or counseling tree. They are responsible for actively networking outside the Oakwood community to facilitate greater community awareness. They take an active role in the sales process in their delivery specialization by working on proposals, presenting them to clients and facilitating in their creation and refinement. They are deeply experienced in Oakwood?s delivery methodology and evangelize this process-oriented methodology to clients and members of their team.
? Expectations
? Drive the solution delivery in Business Development and proposal creation usually to help craft the solution and estimate. Active in account planning and expansion of sales
? Manages all projects to be on-time and within the project budget
? Networks and recruits and contributes to the hiring process
? Expected to be role models for other consultants
? Team leader by placing team needs and recognition above own
? Ability to engage multiple clients simultaneously.
? Act as a Counselor for a number of Consultants in helping them to define their goals both for their career, educational and project opportunities. Meet with own Counselor 3 times a year.
? Lead or facilitate internal projects to gain a greater understanding of Oakwood?s service offerings, sales and delivery approaches.
? Responsible for a sales participation quota based on the company and branch goals for the year.
? Responsible for design specifications and systems solutions documents.
? Instrumental in facilitating meetings, negotiation skills, risk and issue identification/resolution with group consensus.
? Proactively pursue continuing educational opportunities independently and through industry events
? Ensures client satisfaction for entire team
? Skill Set/Experience
? Bachelor?s in Business, Computer Science or similar discipline
? At least 7 years of business related experience
? Demonstrated proficiency in advising client and Oakwood management on technology and/or business issues with corresponding solutions.
? Proven capabilities in at least one of our service areas, while stretching themselves by involvement in other areas.
? Excellent written and verbal communication skills including proposal creation and presentation
? MBA a plus
