Reporting to the Director, Systems Engineering & Support Services in the Pearson Data Center Services (PDCS) organization, this position is responsible for managing the System Engineering & Support Team in day-to-day operations, and tactical, annual and strategic planning. This position is the formal leader for a team of 12-15 System Engineer's responsibilities to include performance management, staffing, employee relations and development of the staff. Other duties are as follows:

* Use Business Acumen to work in highly matrixed environment and in cross functional teams to develop the best IT solutions for the Pearson businesses.
* Set goals for the Systems Engineering & Support team and function, communicate and delegate these goals appropriately, then track and be held accountable for results.
* Develop accurate resource planning to support project delivery as well as daily system administration tasks.
* Work with Resource Management team to develop accurate capacity plans on various platforms in support of our business units.
* Prepare and be accountable for the budget of the UNIX, Windows, Mainframe and Enterprise SAN groups and understand how that budget fits into the larger PDCS picture. This includes accurate forecasting and reporting of expenses and charge-back units on a regular (monthly, quarterly) basis.
* Participate in leadership meeting and planning sessions and provide input and support to PDCS goals and strategic objectives.
* Lead necessary changes in support of providing World Class Data Center services to our customers.
* Develop strong working relationships with customers and assist in selling PDCS services to them.
* Manage vendors and take on the responsibility of working with them to evaluate new technology, manage costs and to ensure proper levels of vendor support.
* Demonstrated commitment to the organization including occasional non-standard hours as dictated by business need and travel as required

Bachelor's Degree in related discipline (preferably a technical or business degree) strongly preferred. Master's degree a plus.
* 7-10 years experience in a technical or IT role
* Previous experience (1-3 years) in a people management role preferred
* Demonstrated skills in budget/financial analysis and planning highly preferred
* Must have previous experience in a large corporate IT or Data Center environment, preferably in a shared service role that required excellent customer service skills. Experience in a revenue generating Data Center environment preferred.
* Must have in-depth knowledge of UNIX, Windows, Mainframe and Enterprise SAN. Networking and database knowledge is a plus.
* Excellent Customer Service Skills must be demonstrable. In addition, excellent verbal and written skills are a must. Will be able to communicate highly technical data network topics in terms and ways that non technical people can understand.
* Familiarity with ITIL and other standard support frameworks along with quality management improvement techniques is a requirement. Experience with a structured project management methodology a plus.
* **Must have the ability to obtain a C5 Government Security Clearance**
