Project Manager - Software Engineering

Responsibilities:
-Manages one or more teams of software engineering personnel supporting multiple lines of business. This includes project definition, management of work assignments and coordination with infrastructure groups.
- Directs system development to meet productivity improvement, cost reduction, regulatory compliance support and business expansion goals.
- Provides guidance to the application development team, including mentoring services, coaching and overall skills training.
- Offers value-added consulting services in the recommendation, prioritization, development and deployment of technology solutions.
- Provides counseling and career development, and develops training plans.
- Oversees budgets and resource plans.

Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Broad knowledge of mortgage banking, accounting or financial services.
- Exposure to localization issues (local laws, customs, language and currency).
- Knowledge of AS/400 or Client/Server systems development methods and practices.
- Strategic planning experience.
- Knowledge of intranet/Internet systems development methods and practices.
- Business process re-engineering experience.
- PMI certification.
- Knowledge of methods and practices in a multi-platform environment.
- Expertise with MS Office products (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).

Requirements:
- A Bachelor?s degree (Math or Computer Science preferred) or technical training equivalent.
- 7+ years of IT experience.
- 4+ years of leadership experience managing complex software development projects (single or multiple sites, single or multiple platforms, and greater than 3,000 hours), and several concurrent projects in a multi-platform systems development environment.
- Proven leadership experience managing a technical staff of 10 + at various levels and disciplines.
- Knowledge of (and experience with) full project life cycle systems development.
- Demonstrated experience in working directly with all levels of line staff, analysts, team leaders and department managers in the client departments and other IT organizations in multiple sites and time zones.
- Knowledge of project management methods and practices.
- Strong management, prioritization, analytical, problem-solving, leadership and communication skills.
- Knowledge of systems development methods and practices.
- Proficiency in data modeling and process modeling.
- An understanding of data base design concepts.
- Experience with staff development in a multicultural environment.
- Knowledge of business case development (including cost benefit analysis) and management of project budgets.
- An understanding of software architecture (e.g. multi-tier architecture, performance, reliability and capacity).
- Solid JAD/Meeting facilitation experience.
- An understanding of vendor relationships.
- An awareness of industry technology trends and industry offerings.
- Expertise with project management software and structured project methodology.
- A track record of managing scope and delivering projects on-time and within budget.
