Mid Level Engineer

Job description:CCNP Networks support engineer with 2-3 years Network support experience within a global investment bank

These resources would be able to take support calls, in the form of telephone calls and emails, from various parts of the business, are able to communicate effectively with the particular business unit and understand the potential issues. They also need to be able to clearly articulate how they are going to address the issue and ensure that the incident is escalated at and within the appropriate time and that the next level of operational support has sufficient information to be able to deal with the incident.
The engineers will also be able to replace faulty equipment and perform BAU functions, i.e.: low level project/engineering functions.


Minimum CCNA Accreditation
Minimum 3 years relevant experience. **
Experience in large scale Cisco Network Products **
Understanding of Spectrum and Cisco Works Good but not essential
Good PC and UNIX skills. Unix part preferred but not essential


Requirements as follows;

Experience of working within a large, multiple-site, multi-protocol LAN & WAN, preferably within a global financial institution.
Hands-on Cisco product programming using IOS (Hybrid & Native).
Working Knowledge and design of multicast enabled LAN/WAN*s
Working Knowledge of network protocol analysis equipment for fault finding and monitoring: preferably Sniffer & Niksun.
Knowledge of infrastructure cabling schemes, the Medias and technologies used.
Working knowledge of Spectrum network management system.
Working knowledge of content switching hardware including F5 BIG-IP and Cisco Local Directors.
Security knowledge, specifically around router ACL*s and NAT
We expect that our resources have experience of supporting the following within an operations team;
Strong Cisco network skills **
General network technology **
General server technology Not essential
3rd Parties management (i.e. Carriers and ISP*s) **
Pix and Checkpoint firewalls a major plus * heavier on Checkpoint
Blade server management
3-5 years in networking and or financial industry * financial experience a major plus

This position has a rotating schedule
6am-2pm
8am-4pm
11am-7pm
10am-6pm
One Saturday per month is required.
The engineer will also be required to be on call one week a month and will be compensated for that week.
