Responsibilities include:
Install, configure and upgrade Oracle server software and related
products in a UNIX environment.
Create, maintain and insure recoverability of Oracle databases in a
UNIX environment.
Allocate systems storage and develop plans for future storage
requirements.(Capacity planning)
Follow database performance monitoring procedures.
Follow SOX database controls and procedures.
Control and monitor user access to databases and maintain database
security.
Provide reliable, recoverable and scalable database/computing
environments to store and integrate company data.
Responsible for 7x24 support of production databases.
Maintain documentation and standards.
Perform daily customer requests as assigned from our ticketing system.

 

Skills/Experience:
Job candidate must have 2 - 5 years of active Oracle database experience working primarily in a Sun Solaris environment.
Enterprise production DBA experience working in a mid to large sized company preferred.

 

Requirements include:
Oracle database support experience for versions: 8.x, 9.x, 10G, and 10G2.
Oracle database security patch application experience. Skills in Oracle database backup and recovery (RMAN, EBU, scripts).
Experience in implementation, maintenance or support of high-availability Oracle solutions (Standby, Data Guard, Advanced replication) in a Veritas Cluster server environment.
UNIX shell scripting experience.
Experience in SQL tuning and Oracle database performance tuning.
Knowledge of networking and enterprise systems architecture.
Experience with problem/crisis situations and database troubleshooting.
Must be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously, meet project deadlines, and work under pressure.
Excellent communication, customer service and people skills.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, staff and employees.
Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
Good documentation skills.
