NOC Engineer

***This is a 12 hour shift position with responsibilities that support the 24 x 7 x 365 Data Center***

Our client is currently seeking a NOC Engineer to be responsible for monitoring network operations, including LAN, WAN, environmental, security and facilities, along with mission critical applications. This position will require the use of various network monitoring tools and utilities. This position will require basic troubleshooting of problems that occur on their shift.

Responsibilities: Develop and recommend best practices for monitoring and reporting on all services Configure and maintain corporate monitoring applications Aggressively seek opportunities to maximize functionality of all monitoring and reporting utilities Develop and maintain processes to provide statistics on network performance Develop processes that will effectively monitor LAN, WAN, Critical servers and applications, and environmental facilities issues Assist in providing documentation to support the tasks listed above Support and maintain monitoring and reporting tools such as but not limited to: Microsoft Operations Manager, HP Systems Insight Manager, Solar Winds Orion, Attention Notification System Work closely with all technical service teams to implement strategies that will increase reliability, availability, and uptime for services Create processes to effectively escalate and track problems as they occur using Magic Service Desk Performs other related duties as assigned by management

Requirements: 3 or more years experience in a Windows based environment Knowledge of Microsoft Operation Manager, HP Openview, or comparable SNMP-based network management system is preferred Prior experience in troubleshooting various applications, operating systems, SAN, and LAN/WAN issues Experience troubleshooting Compaq/HP, Dell, Cisco hardware a plus Prior experience in process improvement initiatives a plus Strong, well-respected leadership skills and personality, self-starting attitude and ability to drive others to take action A proven team player with strong interpersonal skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent attention to detail Excellent organizational skills
