SunGard Higher Education is currently seeking a Senior Systems Administrator for a full time role with our team in New York City.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

To qualify for this position you MUST have ALL of these required qualifications:

 

o  Extensive experience with Windows Server 2000 or 2003, MS Exchange 2000 or 2003 AND MS Active Directory 2000 or 2003.

o  Strong knowledge of DNS.

o  Strong knowledge of DHCP.

o  Working knowledge of LDAP.

o  Expertise in Server OS Configuration, Installation and Maintenance.

o  Ability to Create Documentation of Network and Systems.

o  Experience working with Wireless Networks.

o  Experience working with Systems and Network Security Best Practices.

o  Strong Knowledge of TCP/IP Addressing and Network Protocols.

o  Experience working with NAT.

o  Experience working with VLAN (Creation and Use).

o  Ability to plan, communicate and execute network/systems changes, updates and upgrades in an effective, non-disruptive way.

o  Excellent ability and willingness to work as member of a team.

o  Strong customer service orientation.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

o  Establishes network users, user environments, directories, and security for networks being installed.

o  Installs, upgrades and configures network printing, directory structures, rights, security, software and files services.

o  Sets up and maintains basic network operations, including assembly of network hardware, and provides assistance to the network manager.

o  Performs network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common system and network problems.

o  Upgrades system and network hardware and software components as required.

o  Provides users with system and network technical support.

o  Responds to needs and questions of users concerning their access of network resources.

o  Assembles and configures network components and associated services.

o  Installs and tests necessary software and hardware.

o  Performs disaster recovery functions such as backups, restores and coordination of off-site tape storage
