Network Architect

Our continued growth has created the opportunity for a Network Architect.  The Network Architect will lead network architects, engineers and consultants supporting the network initiatives. Duties will include: Accountable in global working groups to represent future architecture requirements and tuning of existing network components spanning across platform environments (ie. Production, Test and Development).

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Baseline responsibilities for Network Architect:To design and improve the Bombay data network including capacity planning and project work. To support internal projects and business initiatives related to the data network Architecture and capacity planning of the data network. Prepare and present solutions to management. This will include QoS (Quality of Service), MPLS VPN, Internet BGP routing, encryption protocols on network routers and switches.Analyze collected data from the network infrastructure and identify problem areas that need improvement or redesign.Project planning and project work for business initiatives or internal projects relating to data network.Stay up to date and test new network technologies, identify and get approval for new opportunities/ideas that can be implemented in the network infrastructure.Communication and negotiation with vendors and 3rd parties regarding technical solutions and/or technical details in agreements.Stay up to date with developments in the security threat and in measures to counter them for network systems.Develop and maintain security guidelines for network systems in cooperation with Information Security department.Develop and improve monitoring systems for the network environment, this includes Net IQ, HP OpenView and Node Manager, SNMP protocol, and ICMP.Document designs and changes for acceptance in production of the network infrastructureParticipate in requirements gathering and RFP process for new software considerationsFacilitate discovery and design sessions with technical and business management team members Present possible infrastructure solutions to business managementMaintain capital project budget Manage infrastructure  implementation schedule and processes 

ADMINISTRATIVE:Proficient use of MS office Ability to utilize MS Visio Proficient use of MS ProjectParticipate in the hiring process for new team membersParticipate in the annual review process for team membersManage resource schedule for new development and maintenance

STAFF DEVELOPMENT:Ability to share and receive knowledge with other team members and end-usersDevelop team members and support their individual growth opportunitiesLearn and understand systems and their business impactDelegate responsibilities to team members to develop their knowledge of systems



 

PREREQUISITES:Bachelor?s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.  Equivalent experience may be considered.Experience desired:  Cisco Routers and Switches, PIX Firewall, Cisco APs, VPN Concentrators, Cisco IOS, Catalyst IOS, Microsoft Active Directory, CiscoWorks 2000, Cisco ACS, Sendmail, TCP/IP, BGP4, EIGRP, IBGP, RIP, OSPF, IGRP, IPX, HDLC, HSRP, VPN, IPSec/PPTP, PPP, Frame-Relay, ATM, VoIP, MPLS, ISDN, T-1, T-3, OC-3, FDDI, xDSL, Ethernet 10/100/1000Base-T, MRTG, Big Brother, Network Associates Sniffer, Ethereal, Network Instruments Observer
