Network Data/Firewall Analyst

Description:   Assists in the planning, design and implementation of network & firewall technologies.  Determine how to best integrate and connect multiple LANs while maintaining network stability, availability, and security.  Perform diagnostics and troubleshooting as necessary.  Monitor and control overall performance and status of corporate network resources. Completes work on more complex network projects with full competency.  Coordinates with both technical and nontechnical staff and vendors on the design and implementation of complex network projects, which may span multiple business functions and business applications.  Participates in the evaluation of new technologies and vendor proposals.  Conducts network traffic & firewall rule analyses.  Prepares network capacity forecasts and recommends configuration changes that will reduce costs and/or improve service.

 



Requirements:

?  Works with minimum supervision, conferring with superiors on unusual matters

?  Able to work on assignments that are broad and complex in nature

?  Adapts procedures, techniques, tools, materials and/or equipment to meet special needs

?  Serves as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues

?  May orient, train, assign and check the work less experienced technicians

?  May function as lead/project manager within the department

?  5-8 years of experience supporting users in an enterprise environment

?  Thorough knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, & database software

?  Good written and verbal communications skills

?  HIGH customer service attitude

?  Organization and analysis skills, problem solving ability

?  Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols and firewall configurations.

?  Broad and in-depth LAN/WAN experience in a multi-protocol business environment

?  10% travel as required. 

?  Periodic weekend work as required

?  Willing to carry Beeper

 



Experience in the following hardware/software areas all a plus:  Cisco LAN technology

To include but not limited to Routers, Switches, Firewalls, CSU/DSU's, T1, T3, Frame Relay, MPLS, DSL, Sniffer, TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, VoIP, HSRP, RMON, SNMP, IPSec, DNS, DHCP, TELNET, FTP, VPN.
