NetBackup Engineer (Network Engineer II)

This position will be responsible for maintaining and developing the Tier 5 backup architectures across the enterprise. The position requires extensive knowledge in Veritas NetBackup software and centralized tape library technologies. The candidate must be able to manage multiple projects of a complex nature while providing technical guidance, support and recommendations on data protection standards for the enterprise. This candidate would also be expected to frequently evaluate products and conduct Proof of Concepts with technologies such as virtualization- or disk-based solutions to determine those that meet Countrywide Financial Corporation?s future data protection needs. The candidate must be able to work individually as well as with various other personnel, virtual teams, vendors and VARs. Must be a self-starter requiring minimal supervision. The position will report to the Vice President of Storage Services. Travel to Countrywide locations in Texas, Arizona and the East Coast may be required.

Required Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of Veritas NetBackup Data Center Software (NBU, SSO, Vaulting, etc.).
- Advanced knowledge of Master/Media Server and Client installations.
- Advanced knowledge with NetBackup performance tuning and optimization.
- Extensive troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of StorageTek Tape Libraries - L5500, L700, L80, L40, and L20.
- Familiarity with ACSLS running on Sun Solaris.
- Ability to provide technical recommendations on backup architectures.
- Large data center deployment experience.
- Ability to interact effectively with different levels of technical personnel or management.
- Working knowledge of IP networks and fiber channel SAN (Brocade).
- Experience in backup capacity planning and tracking performance metrics.

Additional Desired Skills:
- Knowledge/experience of disk-based backup technologies.
- Knowledge/experience with encryption technologies - hardware/software.
- Windows and Unix operating systems.
- Previous Operations experience.
- Veritas NetBackup Certified Engineer status desired.
- Bachelor?s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Experience with Veritas Command Central Service (CCS) monitoring and reporting.
