The Department of Medical Information Technology is seeking a self-motivated, team oriented professional Network Engineer. Duties include implementation and operational support of the network infrastructure on a public and private heterogeneous network environment. Installation, configuration and management of predominantly Cisco equipment. Installation, utilization and analysis of network management applications. Project implementation and level 3 support of network infrastructure and systems. Daily interfaces with network technicians, project managers, divisional end-users, and vendors. Must have the ability to develop concise, effective documentation, solve complex problems in a timely manner, and demonstrate leadership capability. Excellent verbal, written and English communication skills required. Rotational on-call 24/7 duties.
Minimum qualifications include a Technical certificate (Master's designation) from Cisco or comparable certification (i.e. CCNP/CCDP, CISSP, CISA, or equivalent) and 4-5 years relevant work experience with hands-on application security or auditing experience or IT security expertise; or, Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering or IS related field and 2-years relevant work experience; or, Bachelor's Degree and 4-years relevant work experience. Must know TCP/IP, IPX, AppleTalk and have a strong working knowledge of Cisco IOS, router, switch and hub management, and have extensive experience working with switched networks. Knowledge of the following infrastructure concepts and products a plus: LAN/WAN, IPT, VPN, Call Center, Cisco, DR/Backup Plans, Network Monitoring, A/V, VLAN, IOS, Wireless, RFID, etc. Must have experience with network systems administration, design, support, implementation, troubleshooting, and reporting of related areas involving Cisco, IOS, IPT, A/V, VLAN, routing protocols, and security. Related experience in the healthcare industry is a plus. Must be skilled in network engineering and security best practices and procedures, and have considerable experience with technology design and operations. Any appropriate combination of education, certifications, and/or relevant work experience will be considered.
