We currently have an opening for a Systems Administrator I to join our team in Los Angeles, CA.
Job Summary:
Provides technical assistance to the acquisition, installation, and use of computer operating systems. Job Responsibilities may include the following. Other duties may be assigned: These duties are typical, but not inclusive of other duties as client and company needs change: Administer multiple mission-critical application servers running various operating systems at the client site. Performs technical tasks related to the installation and maintenance of systems software products. Support applications including Internet email systems, public Internet and internal Intranet Web services and network management platforms on enterprise-wide system. Maintain user accounts, mailing lists and related systems. Create and maintain full documentation of all systems, applications, security and network configurations. Evaluate and recommend the purchase of hardware, software, and technical services. Assist in the creation of work plans and planning documents. Implement, maintain, and support network firewalls, audit log servers, and security systems. Assist in the support requirements for MS SQL databases and other applications. Provide administrative, technical support, and maintenance services for the IT department's database and applications development activities. Provide backup DBA support for the department. Resolve technical support issues related to Internet and client-server systems.
Requirements: Associate's degree (A. A.) from two-year college; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have Skills Technical Skills Experience managing a Novell eDirectory environment. (REQUIRED) Working knowledge of standard networking concepts and practices, such as VLANs, IP addressing, NAT, routing, backup/restore. Experience with various network devices, including routers, switches, firewalls, network monitoring hardware/software, packet shaping hardware/software, wireless APs. Experience with various operating systems, including Red Hat or SuSE Linux, NetWare v6.5, and/or Windows 2000/2003. Experience with standard network apps, including DNS/DHCP, Microsoft SQL, Microsoft IIS, Apache/TomCat, etc. Experience with specific apps, including GroupWise, Raisers Edge, Resource25, CBord, BackupExec v10, and Symantec AV, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Suite. (PREFERRED) Language Ability Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
