Title: Network Systems Engineer
Location: Walnut Creek, CA

The Network Systems Engineer at Kaiser Permanente will represent Network Services in the KPHC (Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect) project for wireless and mobile computing deployments throughout the enterprise.

As a Network Systems Engineer you will coordinate all activities involving the Network Services staff in specified projects; function as a liaison between KPHC project managers and Network Services; validate and contribute to wireless network design and engineering requirements; and be involved in budgeting meetings.

Requirements for this position include expert-level experience with and understanding of wireless and mobile computing, TCP/IP Protocol Stack, and switching in VLAN, VTP and STP. This position also requires experience in wireless protocols including 802.11b, routing protocols in OSPF, BGP and EIGRP, and networking technologies, switching, bridging and the OSI Model (layer 1 & 2). Cisco CCNP certification required.

Preferred qualifications include project management expertise and CCIE certification.

Kaiser Permanente HealthConnect is an integrated clinical and administrative information management system that integrates the patients electronic medical record with their appointments, registration and billing information. The system will link KP departments and facilities nationwide, providing KP physicians and care teams access to current and comprehensive patient information and providing KP members 24/7 online access to key portions of their medical record. Enhancing patient safety and care quality, the impact and benefits of KP HealthConnect are expected to be felt throughout all of KP and to set new standards for the health care industry as a whole.
