Operational Support Engineer

Onsite Operational Support Engineer (4 to 8 years experience)

 

Our client, a world-leading provider of Active OSS solutions that enable network operators to maximise the profitability of their network and services, seeks Operational Support Engineers for their headquarters in Reston, Virginia and also at their client site in Overland Park, Kansas.

The role of the Operational Support Engineer is to provide the client with onsite assistance in operating and maintaining the Production environment post go-live. This includes: primary point of contact for Customer?s production issue, involve call handling, problem analysis, technical troubleshooting, development of fixes/workarounds, bug tracking, and assistance in the delivery of new product/solution level releases. Onsite Operational Engineer will also be primary point of contact working with Openet Product team on product enhancement and/or deliver product defects fixes. Other tasks will also involve working with on-site Service team to develop additional customer requirements and deliver changes to the customer rule-sets. The candidate will also be required to participate in on-call rotation supporting customer solution. The person will be onsite at the Client for the contractual period.

-ESSENTIAL

Competent software development skills acquired in:
? A scripting language such as Shell, TCL/TK, DCL and/or
? A programming language such as Visual Basic or C
? Working knowledge of Unix/Oracle/PLSQL
? Software development in a UNIX environment
? Broad understanding of telecommunications and the operation of applications in the Telecom industry
? Software Design & Development in industry
? Demonstrable analysis abilities
? Excellent Oral and Written Communication Skills
? Ability to monitor and operate a mediation/rating solution, seeking to foresee
problems and resolve them before major crises occur
? Ability to understand complex technical issues and recommend/implement solutions and fixes
? Troubleshooting skills
? US Citizen (in specific client cases this is essential)
