Operations Engineer / Systems Administrator

Title: Operations Engineer / Systems Administrator

Location: San Mateo, CA

Compensation:

Job Description:
We are launching the next phase in the company's growth and looking for an experienced Operations Engineer with strong background in Microsoft Windows and Unix (Linux preferred)

Responsibilities:

Identify, reproduce and resolve hardware, system software, database and network problems in the production environments
Analyze systems to proactively predict and detect system errors and anomalies
Identify scalability and capacity issues before they impact the production system
Rotating pager duty for system alerts in production environment
Work closely with Engineering and Services to address customer issues on our hosted environment
Participate in environment provisioning and launches of new customers
Own operations dashboard to show key operational stats (volume, response time, hardware utilization, etc.)
Participate in various infrastructure projects
Develop and maintain best of breed processes

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
5-7 years Sr. Systems Administration/Operations Engineer experience, 3+ years in a 24/7/365 high-volume environment
Experience with the entire suite of Microsoft Operating Systems Servers including Window 2000, Windows 2003, and Unix/Linux.
Experience with MS SQL Server & database clustering.
Experience with one of the major backup packages (Legato NetWorker, Veritas NetBackup)
Experience with implementing infrastructure for an Enterprise 24x7 Data Center
Experienced in writing scripts for a Windows and/or Unix environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills conducive to team development
Ability to identify and improve processes
Previous experience in a SaaS (software as a service) a plus
Experience with Oracle and/or MySQL a plus
Application clustering experience
Understanding of security issues
