Oracle DBA

IntePros Consulting, a Veteran-owned small business that provides IT staffing and consulting solutions, is currently recruiting for a Database Administrator to work in the Stafford, VA area

The ideal candidate should have a solid base understanding of database concepts and technologies, experience in administering Oracle databases, and a willingness to expand the breadth and depth of their technical skills.
Primary job responsibilities will include:

* Installing, configuring, and upgrading Oracle Software on servers and client machines (Linux, Solaris, and Windows platforms)
* Creating and configuring database instances and databases. This includes RDBMS architecture and database setup, and configuration and tuning (instance processes, memory areas, RBS and redo logs and archiving, control files, PFILE and SPFILE management, etc.)
* Creating primary database objects such as tables, views, sequences, triggers, and indexes
* Daily monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database to ensure that database resources such as tablespaces, memory configuration, sessions, archive files, etc. are in their proper status. Perform backup and recovery procedures to include exporting and importing of the database
* Creating user accounts and appropriate privileges as well as maintaining database security. Modify the database structure, as necessary, to support activities of application developers
* Writing PLSQL stored procedures and triggers to support application functionalities

Additionally, the selected candidate will be expected to actively contribute to Battelle*s process improvement initiative.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science degree in information systems, information technology, computer science, or related technical field

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE:
* Two to three years of ORACLE database administration and support experience
* One year of Linux, MS NT and Windows 2000 operating systems experience

SPECIFIC WORKING KNOWLEDGE OR SKILLS:
* In-depth knowledge of database fundamentals such as relationships, primary and foreign key constraints, indexes, etc.
* Ability to write SQL & PLSQL scripts to access, define, and manipulate data in Oracle
