 Oracle DBAWill provide designs and upgrades compliant with DoD and AF Information and Technology standards and initiatives, development, and implementation of data structures, database architectures, and database methodologies.  Will install, configure and maintain database instances and associated software.  This function will perform stopping and starting database instances; identifying and correcting database problems; performing database backups; recovering data; database performance monitoring and tuning; table loads, and table maintenance; configuration control; establishing database accounts and permissions; managing database storage; initializing raw devices for database use; analyzing the impact of software releases and reconfigurations of server hardware/software; and ensuring database security and availability of all database instances.  All actions taken will be accomplished in close coordination with AFCCC/SC personnel.  Will be required to maintain daily logs to describe database problems and corrective actions taken. 

 

Required Experience:  Oracle database installation, operations, and maintenance. Proficiency is required in Structured Query Language (SQL) programming interfaces to the programming languages Java, C and FORTRAN, and using Oracle.  Proficiency with Oracle database commands and utilities; understanding of database concepts like relational and referential integrity; proficiency using database query language; ability to maintain the Oracle Data Definition Language files; familiarity with database tools and processes such as starting and stopping the database, adding and removing database users, granting permissions to database users, database backup and recovery programs, and allocating system storage; writing stored procedures; and creating and modifying database structures like table spaces, tables, views, and indexes.  Knowledge and proficiency of Storage Area Networks with high-speed/fiber switching backbone.  Experience in UNIX, Linux and Windows operating systems.  Proficiency is required with writing UNIX scripts.
