Oracle Database Administrator 06-232

GMRI is currently searching for an Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to assist with database development to support the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This opportunity is a full-time position and it is on-site at the NIH in Bethesda/Rockville, MD.

 

The Oracle DBA will have complete access and control over key NIH research databases. In this capacity, the DBA will be required to have the following knowledge or experience:

 

?  A solid system design and development skill as well as database-related skills.

?  Experience defining data and database requirements, defining database design alternatives, designing logical data models, and designing physical databases.

?  Experience performing requirements and design activities include security, backup and recovery, and availability considerations.

?  Understands advanced database concepts such as replication or parallel operations and knows when, from a system perspective, to apply them as part of the engineered solution.

?  Experience establishing and testing different design scenarios (or to direct these activities) early in the system development life cycle as part of the process of validating the suitability of proposed design alternatives.

 

The technical background should include:

 

?  Requires 6+ years experience and a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field and related experience.

?  Certifications in Oracle database management, with experience up to Oracle 9i required; 10g experience a plus

 

Other experience qualifications that will make a difference include:

 

?  Professional knowledge of the development and maintenance of databases suitable for use on Microsoft Windows and or Unix based systems;

?  Highly motivated individual with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously;

?  Experience in programming, information technology-based trouble shooting, evaluation of computer software packages, development and maintenance of computerized databases, and report writing.
