Overnight Support Technician

The Overnight Support Technician position offers a unique 7 on/7 off, 3rd shift schedule. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  Install, test and troubleshoot VPN connectivity for new customers.  Troubleshoot network connectivity for existing customer issues.  Learn and support connectivity for PACS and RIS production systems.  Some system administration support.  Other duties as assigned.



 

Qualifications/Education:  1+ years network experience or equivalent experience.   IPSEC VPN tunnel management.   CISCO.   Interoperability of Cisco with other brands of network hardware.   Ability to communicate clearly with customers at all levels.   Network topologies:  ISDN, Frame relay, T1, T3, DS3, ATM, PPP, PRI, BRI, OC-3, and xDSL  Experience with different protocols:  TCP/IP, ICMP, UDP, SNMP, SMTP, BGP, OSPF  Familiar with networking  monitoring tools and ticketing systems:  Remedy, netcool, cascade, EBTA.  Understanding of LAN and WAN internetworking devices:  functions of internetworking, linking devices (repeaters, bridges, routers, and gateways), configuring, routing IP addresses and subnetting.  Experience with internet services:  DNS, radius, SIMS, LDAP, NIS, DNEWS, ETC.   Working with multi-vendor firewall and VPN devices:  cisco pix, checkpoint, netscreen and Nortel contivity.  Basic CCNA or CCNP level of understanding of routing and switching as it pertains to a customer specific environment.
