Part-time ADABAS DBA opening in Frederick, MD

Hudson's client is seeking an experience Adabas DBA to work on site at a client facility 20 hours/week.  This is an ongoing, year+ contract position. 

 

The successful candidate will work as a database administrator on a team providing day-to-day support, maintenance, monitoring and troubleshooting for Software AG software and databases at the US Army Garrison (USAG), Directorate Of Information Management (DOIM), Fort Detrick, MD.

 

1.  Minimum six (6) years experience as an ADABAS DBA.

2.  Some ADABAS architecture experience (Applications or DB), Understand the big picture of ADABAS and how other Software AG software integrates.

3.  Experience in performing ADABAS Database System Administrator duties in an MVS or Z/OS environment.

4.  Demonstrated experience with the following Software AG software products:

?  ADABAS HD  7.4.2

?  ADABAS ONLINE Systems 7.4.2

?  COM-PLETE  6.3.1

?  ENTIREX COMMUNICATOR & ENTIREX (PC Portion) 7.1.1

?  NATURAL-ADABAS 4.1.2

?  NATURAL SECURITY 4.1.2

?  PREDICT 4.3.2

?  ENTIRE NETWORK (INCLUDES VTAM, IUCB, & TCP/IP)  5.8.

?  NATURAL VSAM MODULE 4.1.2

5.  Ability to troubleshoot and tune Software AG products to support the NCI and DOIM databases in our current production and test environments

6.  Experience maintaining ADABAS Security including security by value.

7.  Experience using IBM JCL in a z/OS v1.4 operating system and hardware environment.

8.  Understanding and Analyzing System Log files to resolve problems.

9.  Communicating and Teaming with operating system systems programmers and Application Developers to enable smooth transitions between operating system software upgrades as well as ADABAS software upgrades for both the production and test environments.

10.  Ability to communicate and resolve customer problems.

11.  Provide product and general technical support on an ?on call? basis.  On-call support will be scheduled on a 24x7 basis.

12.  Ensure successful completion of scheduled backups and other database maintenance processes. 

 

 

Desired Technologies and experiences:

1.  Experience using software such as Treehouse TRIM software to monitor and tune the ADABAS environment.

2.  Experience on creating, configuring, and maintaining test database in a test environment.

3.  Experience on installing, configuring, testing, and implementing new Software AG software upgrades from test environment to production environment.

4.  Experience working with FDR, ABR, Vanguard Administrator/Analyzer, IOF, CONTROL-M/O, EOS, CIMS Chargeback for MVS, z/OS, JCL, RACF, Assembler, RACF, and COBOL products

5.  Document current production and test ADABAS environments as well as any changes required to ADABAS applications on both the production and test environments.
