PeopleSoft Application Administrator
Job Description -- Overall Role: The Peoplesoft Application Administrator will provide administrative and technical support for PeopleSoft HRMS, Payroll, CRM and other PeopleSystems applications. Additional responsibilities include the installation of PS software, patches, trouble-shooting problems, performance tuning, software configuration, capacity planning, architecture and migrations.
Key Objectives and responsibilities of this role will include the following:
Install, maintain, configure, and ensure the integrity of commercial off the shelf (COTS) software packages, mainly PeopleSoft HRMS, Payroll and CRM.
Plan, schedule and estimate resources to accomplish minor and major upgrades of COTS software.
Perform capacity planning, performance monitoring and tuning of systems.
Identify and implement/participate in the implementation of hardware, operating system and software enhancements for improving the reliability, performance and availability of the systems.
Implement application architecture solutions, considering cost, reliability, performance and long-term strategy.
Manage systems for high availability, and satisfactory response time.
Plan and manage the installation of application patches, tax updates and releases on development, test, quality assurance and production systems.
Proactively determine future growth of the application in the areas of database size, number of end-users and application functionality. Translate these growth parameters into future capacity requirements and architect appropriate hardware, operating system and software solutions.
Configure monitoring tools to evaluate the performance of systems.
Monitor escalated problems entered into the call tracking system. Perform research, document, and resolve escalated issues.
Be available on an on-call basis for recovery problems and system and application problems.
Participate in disaster recovery planning; including assisting with fault tolerance and contributing to the design of disaster recovery plans.
Provide technical administration and migration support for PeopleSoft Development,Training, Quality Assurance and Production environments.
Enforce application change control and migration strategy policies are followed. Participate in application message queue management.
Management of application servers, proxy servers, middleware and web servers for PeopleSoft environments. Participate in instance refreshes. Interface with management and technical staff. Provide 3rd level support to users. Create and maintain system documentation .
Project management.

Immediate forwarding of support issues to appropriate team members or maintaining support until that time.

Change requests to be closed as soon as work is completed.
Supervisor to be notified when existing deadlines cannot be met.
Change management policies are followed.
Attendance and participation in meetings.
Response to all pages in a timely manner.

Experience and/or Qualifications:
This position requires 5 years experience as a PeopleSoft Systems Administrator implementing and supporting PeopleSoft HRMS, Payroll and CRM. Candidate's past experience must include installing and maintaining PeopleSoft 8 applications on Sun/Oracle platforms, the candidate must also have a thorough understanding of the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture. Experience with PeopleSoft 8.8 and 8 SP1 in conjunction with PeopleTools 8.18 and 8.44 a must. Candidate should posses in-depth knowledge of the system administration concepts and demonstrated ability to define and implement best practices that increase system reliability and system performance. Ability to make decisions under pressure and the ability to exercise appropriate judgment to take action or call for reinforcement if necessary. Possess in-depth knowledge of systems architecture concepts and demonstrated ability to architect and implement COTS solutions in a manner that maximizes application performance, reliability and availability. Demonstrated ability to plan and implement both small and large information technology projects involving personnel from various groups. Possess knowledge of the PeopleSoft's architecture - its components, how the components work together and the operating systems. PC skills in Microsoft Office applications sufficient to create documentation and maintain spreadsheets. Written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills sufficient to coordinate and organize activities between teams and various levels of management. Organizational skills sufficient to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities.
Hands on PeopleSoft Administration and Security Management, including experience throughout at least one full life-cycle PeopleSoft implementation project and/or upgrade (version 7+ to 8+).
Solid understanding of PIA - Installation/Configuration/Tuning and Support.
Solid understanding of the WebLogic web server / web server tuning.
Solid understanding of the Application server / application server tuning.
Solid understanding of Report Repository and Process Scheduler.
Integration broker configuration experience / integration between PS and Non-PS environments.
Component interface experience.
Single Signon experience.
Stress test and monitoring experience.
Portal experience.
UNIX/Oracle experience.
SQL/database tuning a plus.
Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as Kintana and PVCS.
Project management skills with attention to prioritization, a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to participate in the negotiation of project terms and control project scope while maintaining a high degree of customer service.
Ability to understand complex technical processes and translate requirements into recommended solutions while minimizing customization to the PeopleSoft products.
