Responsibilities:
General Programmer Responsibilities
Adheres to Sentry Information Technology standards and procedures.
Is familiar with, utilizes and adheres to the project management software and Solution Development Life Cycle (SDLC) project management methodology.
Maintains sensitivity to and follows all system security procedures.
Stays abreast of new processing concepts and technological advances by participating in outside and in-house training programs.
Responds to systems problems by analyzing the problem, formulating a solution, and changing or repairing the system to avoid costly interruption of services to users.
Coordinates completion of requests for Information Technology services, feasibility studies, cost analyses, determination of time parameters, and answers user questions during and following system implementation.
Senior Programmer Responsibilities
The Senior Application Programmer / Analyst:
Assists the Applications Manager in personnel administration including training, performance evaluation, and recognition of strengths and weaknesses.
Leads or provides in-depth input into the identification and development of program and system specifications.
Leads the development and implementation of new programs and systems.
Ensures continuous operations of existing systems and programs.
Ensures complete and accurate documentation of all new systems.
Updates documentation of existing systems.
Is responsible for development of audit testing procedures, debugging procedures, and coordination with other Information Technology personnel to communicate information to facilitate compatibility of all systems throughout Sentry.
Has in-depth knowledge of user products and mode of operations.
Effectively and succinctly communicates with user groups, other Information Technology personnel, and areas outside of Sentry such as state insurance commission offices, bureaus, software providers, etc.
Is responsible for systems maintenance that includes working closely with users to make changes and/or additions to new and existing systems to increase efficiency.
Works with a high level of technical proficiency in computer languages, access methods, and program control facilities necessary to support a specific area of systems responsibility.
Ability to mentor and develop junior developers in PeopleSoft best practices.
Programmer Responsibilities
Under general supervision, the Application Programmer / Analyst II:
Participates in the detailed identification and development of program and system specifications.
Participates in the design, development, and implementation of new programs and systems.
Provides detailed input on cost analyses, systems and program design, testing, and maintenance and documentation of new and existing systems.
Has a general knowledge of user products and mode of operations.
Uses communication skills to effectively interface with user groups and other Information Technology personnel.
Is technically proficient in programming languages and software, the on-line system, database, and other technological areas.
Works closely with unit personnel giving work direction and training to less experienced people.
Coordinates with other Information Technology personnel to ensure all systems interrelate as required.
Performs other job-related duties requiring the same general knowledge, skills and degree of responsibility commensurate with assigned level.
Qualifications:
Must have minimum 3-7 years experience in PeopleSoft hands on development. Experience with HRMS 8.9, Payroll, e-performance, e-development a plus. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or equivalent work experience required.
