Perl Scripter

Perl Scripter Description: This is a great opportunity to work in a technical capacity supporting a large financials organization. This role would be fast-paced and is an excellent opportunity for the professional that is excited by a job that demands flexibility and smarts. This position will involve at least some time providing direct support on the trading floor and is exciting because of its outward facing and dynamic nature.



Common duties would include:


Solving complex problems that require both technical and business understanding

Monitoring, supporting and troubleshooting production jobs and business applications

Participating in application release deployments


Coordinating with the infrastructure team (SA?s, DBA?s etc) on a daily basis

Working on ad-hoc requests from Middle Office and Trading Floor

The team works in shifts to provide continuous business coverage from 7:00 AM till Business End of Day (~ 7:00 PM)






This is an estimated 1 year contract position through Volt Technical Resources, a division of a Fortune 1000 publicly traded Staffing Industry Leader, which is headquartered in Redmond, Washington. Technical Skill Requirements:


Strong Sybase/SQL foundation is a MUST, Oracle is a plus

Experience with UNIX is a MUST, Linux is a plus

Experience writing scripts (i.e. Perl, Korn Shell)

AutoSys or any other job scheduling tool is highly desirable

Experience with programming/database development and/or any application monitoring tool/software is a plus

Experience working in Capital Markets is required. Financial areas preferred, including: Equity ( OTC, Listed, Derivatives, Program), Trading Desk Support, Order Management Support, Portfolio/Risk Management, Market Data, Equity or Fixed Income Finance

A BS degree is required




Additionally, a strong candidate would have the following soft skills:

Strong communication and customer services skills

Ability to handle the pressure of supporting traders; trading floor experience is highly desired

Self-starter with the ability to lead and influence others

Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while following defined processes and procedures
