Platform Implementation Design Engineer

Job Description -- The IT Platform Services Implementation Design Engineer works on problems requiring
analysis. He/she applies comprehensive functional knowledge in problem
resolution. Actively contributes to the development of new methods,
procedures, processes or systems and understand the impact of these changes.
Leads functions and/or projects based on experience and knowledge. May be
responsible for decisions impacting a team and may provide input into the
decision making process for larger decisions. Proposes and defines solutions
and standards which may impact a team or the organization.

Primary Responsibilities for this role may include:
? Understand, adhere to, and promote US IT TS technology standards
? Owns coordination of all implementation activities and qualification of final
product via user acceptance testing, pilots, benchmarking, pre-production
testing and operational readiness at the time of delivery
? Installs and configures server, operating system and supporting applications
upon specifications driven by Architecture and Design
? Defines thresholds for monitoring various metrics of the application and
works with Service Delivery to implement monitoring
? Enforces standards and best practices through development life cycle
? Ensures all supporting processes and procedures are in place prior to go-live
and works with System Delivery in all go-live activities
? Develops relationships and maintains a high level of responsiveness with
Service Delivery, Architecture/Design, Development Services and LoS
? Interfaces directly with project management team, management staff and other
teams to ensure high quality delivery of services
? Documents entire deployment and updates appropriate database(s)
? Develops detailed systems and process documentation

? Four year degree in any business/ technical area or equivalent experience is
preferred and four plus years relevant work experience.

? Experience with Jumpstart and automating Solaris server builds
? Sun Hardware configuration including configuration of high end Sun Hardware
(i.e. E15K)
? Servers utilizing SAN or local storage
? Servers utilizing Enterprise or local backup solutions
? Solaris 9 and 10 OS installation and troubleshooting
? Ability to identify and resolve Solaris OS issues
? Application (Sun Volume Manager, Veritas Cluster, Apache, Oracle, NetBackup,
etc) installation and troubleshooting
? Ability to configure complex Veritas Cluster environments
? Ability to automate recurring processes

Knowledge in the following technologies are a plus:
? HP Hardware configuration including servers, storage arrays, tape libraries
? Servers utilizing SAN or local attached storage
? Servers utilizing Enterprise or local backup solutions
? Windows 2000 and 2003 OS installation and troubleshooting
? Ability to identify and resolve Windows 2000 and 2003 issues
? Application (IIS, SQL, Lotus Notes, MS Office, Arcserve, Brightstor, etc)
installation and troubleshooting
? Ability to configure complex Microsoft Cluster environments
? Ability to automate recurring processes

? Must have excellent communication skills and be very customer-oriented
? Able to work on multiple projects simultaneously
? Demonstrated ability to participate in the negotiation of project terms and
control project scope while maintaining a high degree of customer service
? Ability to balance conflicting priorities and manage time to ensure success
of simultaneous efforts
? Knowledge of software development best practices and software development
life cycle
? Strong project management knowledge and skills
? Strong interpersonal and team skills/ability to work effectively with all
levels of personnel
? Good documentation skills
? 3+ years of Sun Solaris and/or Microsoft Windows skills, performing system
administration of on servers.
