Located at our Corporate offices in Milwaukee, Johnson Controls has a challenging opportunity for an individual to serve as the technical lead for architecture, design, implementation and ongoing enhancement of portal/web content management applications for the Johnson Controls Enterprise Employee Portal.  The objective of the position is to deliver additional business value out of the investment made in portal/content management technology. The person in this position will be part of a team and will be responsible for providing technical mentoring and leadership to the team while collaborating with the enterprise.


 


Individual will also lead and create clear and comprehensive architectures and high-level designs to speed development activities while maximizing return on investment.  Ensures technical solutions can be implemented within our timeframes and budgets. Must have a proven ability to deliver and a strong track record of successful implementations.  Defines, communicates and maintains enterprise software standards, best practices, application frameworks and re-usable application components within the portal stack.  Contributes to definition of technology direction and the evaluation of emerging software technologies and processes within the portal stack.  Performs hands-on experimentation and conducts technology proof of concepts.  Translates business requirements into technical solutions that leverage the portal platform to meet those business needs. This requires the Architect to bridge the gap between business and technology and be responsive to business priorities and drivers.  Anticipated responsibility split will be 60% architecture and 40% development.


 


 



We are seeking a candidate with a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or commensurate experience in the IT field with a minimum 8 years experience in IT of which at least 5 years as a technical lead/architect role in Java based application development and support.  Must possess strong communication skills with a positive, "can do" attitude and must be willing to push the envelope. Must have experience with Webshere portal technology (IBM).Experience with Document Management/Web Content Management technology (Livelink and/or Documentum and Day Communique preferred).  Must have experience with Java, XML, Web Services, J2EE, frameworks, design patterns, component technologies.  Experience working with Netegrity Siteminder, LDAP (Sun/Active Directory), Oracle, and Verity K2 is required.  Must be able to collaborate with a diverse group of customers and stakeholders, listen and learn, weigh various considerations including business and technical implications, recommend alternatives and options and help bring the team to agreement.
