Principal Engineer, Customer Advocacy

As a Principal Engineer, Customer Advocacy based at our Milpitas, CA headquarters, you will serve as a customer advocate, providing technical and business leadership for customer requirements and issues during product development, qualification and after release to ship and customer implementation. As the technical and business partner, you will help identify and set internal and external strategic direction in order to resolve resolution and communication of customer issues. You will have the freedom to independently seek out or create new, possibly revolutionary technologies and business models that have not been previously applied to products used in JDSU's core business by either the Company or any of its potential competitors. Your professional background should give you a firm grounding in methodology and an understanding of how bits become bytes. Your experience working across multi-company teams, finding innovative solutions to overcome program obstacles, developing, implementing and enforcing procedures will ensure your success in this opportunity. Lastly, your ability to present to and positively influence senior management is paramount to your success.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline (technical master's degree preferred) and a minimum of five years of directly related experience. Understanding of highly advanced technologies and scientific principles is required. Understanding the Fiber Optic Telecommunication market and classical optics market as well as the respective competitors is required. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to work across multi-company teams, finding innovative solutions to overcome program obstacles. The ability to make technical and customer based presentations and the technical/market knowledge required to influence JDSU's design-in objectives is required.
