Position Summary:


As part of Comcast Cable's corporate engineering team, the selected candidate will be responsible for the integration and test of new Video on Demand infrastructure, software and tools. The selected candidate will play a leadership role in driving the integration and test of new VOD products, as well as transitioning integrated projects to the E2E Test lab for final testing. This individual will also provide lab support for both Video and IP Networks to help maintain lab configuration and provide support for the installation of new products.

Major Duties:


Integrate and test new VOD versions, products and tools to enable new technologies in Comcast's headends.


Work with Corporate Product Engineering and third-parties to integrate and test new headend devices and platforms, as well as infrastructure improvements.


Help transition new products from the Development and Integration labs to the End-to-end test labs by driving vendors to produce the required documentation and procedures.


Provide support in the labs for both Video and IP Networks to maintain lab configuration and install new products.

This position will require the successful candidate to leverage leadership and deep system-level technical skills to work across internal groups as well as with vendors and industry partners to create infrastructure designs to support the deployment of new services and new infrastructure capabilities.

Qualifications
Education:


Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science; Equivalent experience will be considered.

Experience:


Candidate must have proven deep systems-level thinking and strong communications skills.


Candidate must have strong background and deep understanding of digital video technologies such as MPEG-2 as well as a strong background and deep understanding of IP networking. Candidate must have a strong understanding of digital cable networks, including DOCSIS, MPEG-TS, and VoD.


Operational experience with Motorola, Scientific Atlanta, Concurrent VoD, Seachange VoD, C-Cor VoD and Tandberg systems
