JOB DERSCRIPTION

The Principal Network Engineer is responsible for taking the lead in exploring the value that IP-based services ? delivered both locally and globally over the Internet ? can offer our client. Specifically, the Principal Network Engineer must bring extensive knowledge of IP protocols and IP services in the areas of Internet infrastructures, VPN, QoS, and convergence architectures (e.g., VoIP, H.323, SIP) and leverage that knowledge to (1) support the existing IP/Internet infrastructure and services described below, (2) propose and support pilots of new services or architectures that may benefit our client (e.g., SIP), and (3) work collaboratively with other teams where these technologies require integration and coordination.

 

The Principal Network Engineer will be the lead engineer in this functional area.  The application of IP convergence technologies over the Internet is expected to be an area of increasing interest for the IMF.  This position offers the possibility for international travel.  The position is part of a team that manages a wide range of remote access and global communications issues for an international organization.

 

Individual should have extensive and in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite. Specific depth and experience with (1) QoS services and architectures, (2) VPN services and architectures, and (3) architectures and protocols for convergence including practical, hands-on experience with VOIP and H.323 environments, and at least conceptual understanding of SIP.

 

Also, extensive technical knowledge and experience installing, configuring and maintaining network infrastructure components including Cisco routers, Cisco PIX firewalls, VPN devices, and VOIP and video-conferencing infrastructure.
