Principal - Opearations Architect - KJD8351

I. Job Summary:   Accountable for the design and implementation of the Technology
Operations Document and Publishing Solutions strategic architecture.
Works with senior management to establish strategic computing/print
direction with emphasis on improving efficiency, effectiveness, and
stability of the IS Operations Document and Publishing Solutions
environment. Provides strategic consulting to senior management.
Provides strategic direction to all levels of the organization and helps
implement architectures and practices throughout the computing/print
environment.

 

II. Accountabilities:

 

Plans and manages the operational aspects of the design, development,
and testing of application and systems engineering print prototypes in
conjunction with other information systems groups.

Provides advocacy and planning functions to ensure ongoing support
for new technologies as they transition into production status and quality.

Develops and implements capacity management processes, automated
where possible, to effectively and efficiently manage existing system capacity.

Continuously supplements knowledge of present software and hardware
environment with knowledge of emerging operating systems, tools,
and applications.  Shares this knowledge base with co-workers through
 direct interaction, and internal/external publications.

Analyzes existing processes within Document and Publishing Solutions
and develop/implement improvements which add stability, lower costs,
and improve efficiency within the development and production environments. 

 

III. Job Requirements:


Required:


Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration and seven
years of experience in an operations/print output support role with at least
1 year in a senior planning role.

If no degree, then 10 years of experience in an operations/print output
support role with at least 1 year in a senior planning role.

Advanced technical knowledge of mainframe and distributed print processing
environments.  Capacity management, storage administration, and
performance tuning experience in these environments is required.

Preferred:
Human relation skills to effectively interact with peers, subordinates,
internal and external customers and vendors.  Able to motivate individuals
and teams.
Advanced presentation skills and oral and written communication skills.
Advanced analytical skills related to cost / benefit analysis of large dollar
hardware and software implementations.
Demonstrated sound decision making and judgment skills.
