Fidelity Investments Systems Company (FISC) has a current opportunity for a Consultant Systems Engineer focused on maintaining Unix High Availability Cluster environments.

 

This position may be located in any one of the following locations: Boston, MA, Marlborough, MA, Merrimack, NH, Dallas or Westlake, TX, Smithfield, RI

 

Duties & Responsibilities: Engineer solutions to continuously improve enterprise wide VCS HA Environments.Automate and develop technical solutions for the Unix Operations Administration Teams.Provide 3rd level support of Solaris, AIX or Linux  production environment.  Provide leadership in integration of new technologies into the existing infrastructure. Estimate and manage impact of changes to existing infrastructure.Participate substantively in strategic initiatives.Meet regularly with vendors to provide input on current and future products.Providing technical leadership in the development and implementation of projects. Develop strong teamwork with enterprise wide community of Unix System Administrators. Interface with Integration Team Managers, internal and external customers, internal Fidelity departments, vendors and contractors.





5+ years experience with some or all of the following:Senior IBM AIX administration skills; intimately familiar with AIX 4.3.3 and AIX 5.X. Solid knowledge of Veritas Cluster Server and Add-on products.

To be successful in this role you should possess:Ability to promote teamwork and work collaboratively within a cross functional Unix organization team.Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.Solid understanding of Unix security.Expert knowledge in one of the following: PERL, C, Python, shell scripts (bash/csh/sh).  Ability to identify tasks that require automation and automate themA solid understanding of networking, distributed computing concepts, storage area networks and other forms of shared storage, system partitioning using LPARs, the design of large shared file system layouts.Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing proposals, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customers or peers, and working closely with upper management

Desirable:Experience with IBM HACMP and add-on productsSenior Sun Solaris administration skills; (familiar with Solaris 8 and above)Red Hat Linux system administration skillsA degree in computer science or a related fieldKnowledge of Fidelity Investments infrastructure and policiesExtensive programming background in any languagePublications within the field of system administration
