Process Management Specialist
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for complex business and/or systems process analysis, design, implementation, and operation. With full competency, analyzes existing processes, procedures and methods to ensure and promote effective business and systems operations through standardization, improvement, simplification, discontinuance or other methods. Creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones. May coordinate and implement proposed process and procedure enhancements between work teams and operational departments. May be responsible for day-to-day operations and execution of complex processes, facilitation of key process events, and fulfillment of major process deliverables. May focus on process development or execution.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
With full competency, designs, develops, configures, customizes, documents, deploys, maintains and upgrades business and system processes and procedures.

With full competency, may perform the day-to-day operations of business and systems processes, including the operation of process-related tools. Facilitates key process events and fulfills customer requests and process deliverables through all phases of the process lifecycle.

With full competency, initiates, enables and supports process redesign and/or re-engineering initiatives and projects through continues process improvements. Identifies, facilitates, markets and implements new and creative business and systems process redesigns.

With full competency, performs process evaluations and develops recommendations by use of benchmarks, pilots, prototyping and modeling to assess potential use of new methods and workflows within a business and/or system process. Evaluates business and systems processes for design effectiveness and resource utilization to ensure process performance meets targeted service levels.

With full competency, analyzes and aligns customer requirements with the organization's infrastructure components including process design, product delivery, information technology systems, organizational functions and overall business structure. Develops and provides recommendations on possible process, tool, and control enhancements to increase the quality and optimization of business and/or information technology services and resources. Facilitates ongoing process design activities for a given set of customers or systems organizations as a team member and advisor.

With full competency, works and consults with customers and project teams to develop business cases and comprehensive project plans to identify, quantify, and deliver process design efforts in support of business objectives. Monitors and executes process design project plans.

Serves as a subject matter expert on a project team involved with the development, implementation, administration, and operation of new business and system processes, which may include multiple functions, product lines, technology platforms, and business activities. Facilitates post-implementation and conformance reviews for complex processes to ensure conformance to process requirements.

With full competency, may implement, maintain, and operate moderately complex process design, operational, and measurement tools and methods in order to design, operate, monitor and improve business and/or system processes. Mentors, educates and trains others on the use of process design techniques, methods and tools as well as on the use-of and execution-of business and systems processes and tools.
9.
Maintains collaborative relationships with vendors, partners and suppliers to support customer or systems plans. Facilitates service evaluations regarding outside consulting service vendors.

Acts as a source of direction, training and guidance for less experienced staff.
11.
May coordinate activities for a process project team and assist in monitoring project schedules and costs.
12.
Works with customers to increase their awareness of process techniques, methods and tools to identify opportunities for performance improvements. Advises business and systems partners on the issues and problems that they will face as process implementation activities unfold. Assists customers in selecting process design and operations team members. Participates in the development of office-wide vision and strategies for processes.
13.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Some travel involved. This position will be heavily involved in Project work so commercial business experience and knowledge is a must. Actual Position may range from Band C to Band F depending on level of experience.

There are templates and examples of completed documents to use as guides should you not have formal training in these areas.
This area is not a structured work environment. You must be able to learn quickly, be self-taught using examples, and be able to delegate to team members. You must be able to take a topic and all its ambiguity and create a structure around it to turn it into a project with a beginning and follow it through to the end.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Associates may have on-call responsibility after normal working hours and/or on weekends.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Undergraduate degree in areas related to Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Business or Mathematics preferred. Prefer BS or BA and/or product-related technical insurance course work (CPCU, CPU, LOMA). Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Process-related certifications preferred.
Experience: Six years minimum experience in business process design or operations.
Knowledge: Maintains and comprehends business/systems process operations or redesign techniques, methods and tools. Maintains current understanding of technological, societal and environmental trends to support process design and operations to improve performance. Maintains current understanding of insurance and financial services industry, focusing on the Nationwide enterprise and its' key competitors.
Skills/Competencies: Must have demonstrated experience in process analysis, process design, and process implementation, including current technologies. Working knowledge of insurance or financial business processes, IT Service Management processes, application development processes, or IT operations processes required. Understanding of project management concepts and techniques required. Must have an understanding of customer business environment preferred. Competency in process development or process operations preferred. Must have oral and written communication skills for contacts with all levels of staff, management, external sources, negotiation, presentations, project management, and technical and non-technical contacts. Occasional travel. Non-standard or extended work may be required based on project needs.
