Production Developer

Robert Half Technology, the world's leader in technology staffing, is currently seeking a Production Developer for a contract to hire role with a world-wide Printing/Publishing firm based in Irving, TX.

 

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Programming in support of Direct Mail applications. Develop and maintain batch programs, utilities and BAT streams in support of data preparation and laser printing requirements.  Coordinate client specification changes with Account Service. Development occurs on an NT client/server platform.  Candidates are expected to be familiar with project management techniques, data sorting techniques, DOS batch scripting and electronic document composition engines.  Thorough testing and proper signoff procedures should be followed prior to production implementation.

 

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES  (In priority order)

 

Design and write Laser Technology programs

Program applications using our current software utilities

( Firstlogic (Postalsoft), GMC PrintNet, TSSUTIL, Visual Basic)

Verify all data cleaning and postal presort reports

Problem solving on laser printing issues

Communicate with Account Service on projects

Communicate with Creative on laser setup (comps, font, text) issues

Communicate with Print Operations on printer usage (setup and live)

Communicate with Production Control on project handoff to letter shop Communicate with Print Production on window placement, forms design

 

Experience with Print Net T a big plus!

 

 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

 

Education:

BS in CIS or equivalent

 

Required Experience:

2+ Years Software programming experience

2+ Years VB6 Development

Laser print knowledge
