NORC, a national organization for survey research, is currently seeking a Programmer to provide support for survey systems and data. The Programmer is an entry- to mid-level technical position, providing services to IT groups supporting NORC business applications.

 

Responsibilities include: system set-up, software customization, application and data support for existing systems, implementation and execution of test plans, and writing data preparation and report programs.  The Programmer works as a part of a team and will receive close supervision by a project manager and/or senior programmer.  A project manager/senior programmer will provide detailed specifications, schedules, priorities, and will thoroughly review the incumbent?s work.  The Programmer will be responsible for setup, testing and supporting existing NORC applications, coding, testing and implementing programs and modules, data manipulation and maintenance and assisting in the training of users.

 

Requirements include: B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience including programming, testing, and database concepts. The candidate must have working knowledge of at least one of the following: SQL, SAS, Visual Basic, Java, .NET, Oracle Development Tools and C++ in addition to strong knowledge of Windows 98/NT/2000/XP.  Ideal candidates will also have strong problem solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work in a team setting, a process-driven approach to work and an ability to work under time pressure and in a dynamic environment.
