Programmer Analyst II

SUMMARY:   Under general direction, performs assignments within the IT Department in the area of application programming and technical analysis, business analysis and special projects for the Department.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



A.  EDUCATION - A college degree or equivalent work experience in relevant area is required

B.  EXPERIENCE - Two to four years applicable work experience.  An advanced degree is desirable. 

C.  SKILLS - Strong technical and/or functional analytical skills to perform the job called when called upon. Ability to handle several assignments simultaneously.  Ability to work and manage work with minimum supervision.  Sound understanding of the business activities of the user community and the objectives of the company.  Good interpersonal skills.  Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.  Thorough understanding of IT department standards and methodology.  Technical proficiency in the areas of application  programming in a client/server and web environment.  Extensive experience with hardware integration and software tools to include VB.NET,ASP, ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, SQL, C# and familiar with source control.

D.  OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Must be available for on-call rotation.  Some travel may be required.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

As part of the Software Development and Support, Programmer/Analysts II will:

?  Reports the status of their work performed on the projects they are assigned.

?  Keep supervisors notified of any problems or potential problems as they may arise.

?  Identify strategies in which the Department may better or more effectively provide service to the user community.

?  Codes, tests and debugs routine computer programs according to standard and procedures.

?  Codes and tests job control language according to standards and procedures.

?  Documents computer programs and changes.

?  Maintains and modifies routine applications.

?  Works with users to define reports and on-line screen formats.

?  Develops general or detailed specifications for specific applications or software programs according to application system methodology and standards.

?  Designs application programs or modifications.

?  Resolves data processing problems through analysis.

?  Designs job control language.

?  Prepares program documentation and application system documentation.

?  Writes user procedures and participates in application system testing and training.

?  Provides prompt, courteous service to all internal and external customers. Prioritizes and addresses customer needs and demands in a professional manner, providing follow-up and developing cooperative relationships.

?  Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve customer service, work processes and financial performance. Assists in design and implementation of quality improvement initiatives on departmental and organizational levels.

?  Assists team members in completion of tasks and assignments to ensure continuity of service.  Orient new co-workers and actively support team development.
