Project Manager IS

Summary: The Project Manager IS is responsible for delivering IS projects using accepted processes and methods. This includes managing through all phases of the project lifecycle. This also includes activities such as risk management and stakeholder expectation management. This position may be responsible for managing multiple small or medium sized projects. The projects may impact multiple businesses and resources.
Manage and balance stakeholder expectations regarding the project time, cost and scope.
Align project requirements with Staples? business and IS technology strategy and vision.
Build and manage a project plan that can deliver expected results.
Identify and manage a team of resources who come together for a specific project (IS, Business and 3rd Party).
Identify and manage project risks.
Communicate status issues and changes to appropriate audience.
Manage the project budget.
Contribute to project management methodology and process improvements.Qualifications:
BS/BA in Computer Science, IS, Business or equivalent
Masters certification in project management or PMP certification is a plus
8-10 years information systems management experience including at least five years IS project management experience
Proven track record of delivering complex projects using varied development approaches for internal and externally developed applications as well as packaged applications
Significant knowledge of project management processes, methods, and standards
Excellent leadership and communications skills required
Experience managing a matrix team consisting of associates, contractors, and vendors with various skills and disciplines
Self-starter with high energy to meet the needs of a demanding business and IS environment
Skills include strong business acumen and strategic thinking to complement strong tactical execution skills
Retail Contract business experience highly desired
Some North America or international travel may be required Staples is NOT using third parties for this position.
