Project Manager - TLR BIS

We are seeking a creative and highly motivated project manager to join the Business Information Systems (BIS) team. BIS provides systems support, enhancements and consultation for the selection and implementation of TLR and Thomson business systems. Our primary areas of responsibility are Shared Systems Technology, SAP, Data Warehouse, Online Charges, International Business Systems and Bolt-On Applications. We develop TLR business systems that support business operations in ordering, subscriptions, pricing, billing, finance, publishing, manufacturing, distribution and other areas. We are responsible for system administration and development of internal web applications such as MyTHOMSON, SAFE integration, Cognos, Time Tracking, and thePoint. This is a great opportunity to participate in the definition and implementation of project management strategies while managing fast paced technical projects.
Primary Responsibilities: Manages project activities for multiple projects across all project phases, including the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, control, and closure Works closely with department manager, team leads, and tech leads on technical direction and approach as related to project planning Creates, manages and tracks project vehicles, including (but not limited to): Detailed Project plan Project schedule Project scope statement Cost Estimates Resource plan Risk and issues logs Status reportsTailors the common project management processes to meet the needs of individual projects Manages the day-to-day activities of projects; conducts status meetings with the project team as necessary to ensure project deliverables are on schedule and within cost parameters Communicates and collaborates with internal and external business units in regards to project deliverables including managing expectations, presenting, and interfacing with sponsors Makes decisions and communicates trade-offs and risks; drives key decisions across projects Makes recommendations to management about schedules, prioritization, and resource allocation with input from team members Works collaboratively with other project managers and across project teams to identify and resolve issues with minimal guidance, escalating as appropriate Assists Manager with the preparation of monthly reports to senior executives Updates the over-arching project plan for assigned projects Provides input into strategic planning and asset creation processes Contributes to resource planning and organizational capacity planning initiatives Work with the Process Improvement project team to define, implement and institutionalize new project management strategies across BIS. Coaches and trains project team members on project management processes and best practices.
Minimum Qualifications: A four-year degree in Computer Science or a related field. Five or more years of experience in a technology environment including four or more years of project management experience Demonstrated experience in creating and leading cross-functional project teams Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines in a fast paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, including conflict resolution skills Ability to work effectively in a professional manner with technology staff, business stakeholders, end users, all levels of management and others outside the organization Ability to work independently. Self-motivated with ability to drive projects Experience with business cases, and compiling and analyzing information to estimate project costs
Preferred or Desired Qualifications:PMP certification Experiences with Process Improvement projects Experience with business systems and/or Order-to-Cash operational or Customer Service work flows Experience implementing SAP
