QA Lead - Vienna, VA

The QA Lead will report to the Project manager and will own the planning, effort, and team management for testing a J2EE migration project through their QA phases. This position requires a thorough understanding of software development and release processes, as well as a strong command of all quality assurance fundamentals, strategies, and technologies. Successfully have managed the testing effort,the candidate will have excellent communication skills and the ability to pinpoint and address progress-killing problems before they erupt.

The QA Lead will be responsible for debugging software products through the use of systematic tests to develop, apply, and maintain quality standards for the J2EEs solution. Also responsible for capturing results and filing defect reports.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

? Develops, modifies, executes, reviews and approves software test plans. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures.

? Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software.

? Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action.

? Consults with development engineers in resolution of problems.

? Design and implementation of automated tools.

? Familiarity with Junit, JIRA, and ANT is a huge plus and knowledge of scripting!

 

 

Qualifications:

? 5+ years of QA experience testing applications based on Java, J2EE and web technologies.

? Expert Tester and testing mentor!

? Strong understanding of quality assurance fundamentals, strategies, and technologies ? Efficient style, expert at the art of writing quality bug reports ? Strong working grasp of all major software and hardware technologies ? Demonstrated ability to define and manage testing projects in Web, Desktop and Client/Server applications

Experience with QA processes and tools, test management systems, QA automation and how it applies within a development environment, analyzing bug trends, SQL and related topics. Preference for experience in ASP environments and agile development methodologies.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
