QA Manager: Web and Wireless Handset Applications

Job Description:


As our new QA Manager you will work with various IT and business units, both internal and external to VMU, to plan and implement handset testing. You'll partner with Sprint and our handset vendors on testing strategy, test planning and status. You'll evaluate and test software programs, using both manual and automated testing techniques, to verify that handset projects function according to specifications and standards.

Here are the key bullets on the role: Lead multiple domestic and international teams responsible for testing multiple applications (i.e., Siebel, Web, Telcordia, IVRU) Interface with senior managers to understand their testing objectives and report test case results. Test handset projects comparing specifications and documentation. Identify, analyze, and document defects, questionable functions, errors, and inconsistencies in handset functions, outputs, online screens, and content. Create test cases and test data. Respond to inquiries from users and technical support regarding functions and operations of handset programs. Develop standards and procedures for program design and testing. Recommend program improvements or revisions to project team and handset vendors. Identifiy program variances from standards and suggests modifications to conform. Conduct compatibility tests with other VMU handsets and network environments. Manage all handset sustaining testing projects to completion. Document, track, and communicate test plans, test results, analysis, and unresolved problems.

Job Requirements:


To throw your hat in the ring, you should have a minimum of 5 years QA experience with an understanding of QA processes and methodology. It's a definite plus if you have experience managing offshore resources and testing experience with PDA's or handsets or similar devices in fast paced environment. You'll need solid knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, diagram (Visio) and project management software. Experience with imbedded software, SMS, MMS, WAP and Multimedia (MP3, video, expansion memory, etc.) is not required, but will send a candidate right to the top of the heap!
