QC Analyst (Manual) - Specialist

 

The position is located in Northbrook, IL

 

The purpose of the department is QC/Testing

 

The scope of this job is Quality Control Analyst (Manual)  -  Develops test plans and scripts, prepares test data, and executes functional tests using  manual testing techniques. 

 

The individual will be responsible for:

 

1. Primary Responsibilities:  Analyzes business requirements to identify testable requirements.  Develops functional test plan based on business and functional requirements.  Conducts functional test plan inspections. Coordinates functional testing effort with project team.  Executes functional test plan and validates and communicates test results.  Identifies and documents defects.  Conducts data analysis and validation. Develops enhanced test

models and techniques.  Supports the creation and maintenance of test data and test environment. 

 

2. Specific Responsibilities:  As a member of the project team, may work  with team members, especially the business analyst, to identify testable business requirements.  Develops test plans, test specifications, test cases and/or test scripts for each software release based on defined testing standards and is validated and accepted by Quality Control Analyst lead for project.  Participates in test plan inspections, documents issues, and supports resolution of those issues. Conducts inspections with support of lead Quality Control Analysts for the project. Adheres to project test activities to deliver quality throughout strategic initiatives. 

 

3. Specific Responsibilities:  Responsible for the coordination/liaison of testing to support project teams and may require interaction with business clients to ensure required specifications are met. Executes test cases and validates to ensure business requirements, functional and navigational requirements are met.  Partners with the developers in verification and validation of problems in new and existing applications.  Reports testing progress effectively. 

 

4. Specific Responsibilities:  With the assistance of the lead Quality Control Analyst for the project, responsible for defect identification, documentation, communication and follow through to resolution according to business requirements. Performs data analysis of executed scenarios to ensure data structure integrity and carries out validation procedures to ensure that all system modifications meet end-user requirements and quality standards. May require support or guidance from others for complex data analysis issues.  May identify and recommend process improvements within the test architecture. 

 

5. Other Responsibilities:  Mentors and coaches peers and colleagues. Builds and sustains relationships. Supports process improvements.  Supports corporate strategy. Shares knowledge ground rules and perspective with new team members.  Builds, cultivates, and maintains long term relationships.  Identifies opportunities to improve internal team processes or supported business's processes, products, or services.  Supports the achievement of the APT and corporate strategy.

o  Microsoft Access (a plus)

o  Microsoft Visual Source Safe (a plus)

o  Rational ClearCase (a plus)

o  Rational ClearQuest (a plus)

 

Experience Required:

Beginner

 

Computer Proficiency:

Office products (Microsoft Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint & Outlook).  Web Browsers (Internet Explorer & Netscape).  Testing tools such as Rational ClearCase, Rational ClearQuest, TestDirector & Microsoft Visual Source Safe a plus.

 

Education:

College Degree - Preferred

Major preference: Computer Science or Management Information Systems
