Quality Assurance Specialist

Education Requirements
Bachelor?s degree in engineering, computer science, or other technical field, or the equivalent combination of education/certifications, technical training, and work experience. A testing or quality certification is a plus (e.g., ASQ, CSPM, CSQA, CSTE, or Six Sigma).

Technical Requirements:
Required Skills:
? 4 to 6 years work experience in Quality Assurance for Information Technology projects.
? 2 to 4 years experience working within CMMI framework and/or the ISO 9000 standards.
? 1 to 2 years experience in testing and verification.
? Experience writing QA plans and conducting QA audits and reviews.
? Experience developing templates, style guides, standards, guidelines, test plans, and test cases.
? Excellent editing, writing, and proofreading skills with a demonstrated effective knowledge of Microsoft Office XP suite and Windows XP.
? Candidates should be detail oriented, flexible with a dynamic environment, have excellent written & verbal abilities with English as the primary language. ? Ability to effectively communicate and interface with project managers, task leaders, and technical project staff.
? Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work on several projects simultaneously.
? Ability to learn new applications and specified technology quickly.
? Ability to work under pressure to meet tight project deadlines, maintaining a high degree of accuracy and quality.
? Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
? An understanding of software development lifecycles and commonly used concepts and practices within the Information Technology field.

Desired Skills:
? 1 to 2 years of experience with technical editing and document development
? 1 to 2 years experience developing metrics or demonstrated understanding of metrics programs
? Experience with process engineering and process diagrams.
? Experience conducting compliance audits against CMMI and/or ISO standards

Position Description:
This individual will perform in the role of Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist reporting to a supervisor or project manager. The individual will be responsible for the definition, execution, and control of project QA processes and plans. The individual will review and audit project documentation, processes, and activities to assure adherence to established procedures and standards. The individual will ensure products and documentation meet customer requirements for quality, format, and style. The individual will be required to review contract documents and requirements documents to identify acceptance criteria and quality requirements. The individual will write, edit, and format Quality Assurance documentation, which may include creating document templates and style guides by extracting requirements from existing documentation. The individual will provide frequent status reports of QA activities and prepare QA reports documenting the results of QA audits. The individual will often work directly with project managers to assist with the resolution of deficiencies and non-compliances. The work involves participation in all stages of product and documentation development, requiring frequent attendance to project meetings. Other responsibilities include participating in peer reviews and desktop reviews of software documentation and performing requirements verification against functional and system design requirements. The individual will also train and mentor project members on QA processes. The individual may be required to learn and use automated tools including change control tools such as MKS Integrity Manager.
