Release Engineer - Application Management

The RiskMetrics Group, a global financial software company, is immediately seeking a Release Engineer

to join our Applicationn Management group.  The mission of our Application Management team is to

manage releases and provide tools/processes for RiskMetrics Group?s high-availability production

systems for first-rate clientele including many of the world?s central banks, leading financial

institutions, hedge funds, and corporations.   

 

Responsibilities:Plan, document and deploy company-wide financial software applications on Windows and Unix/Linux based systems.Manage configurations and troubleshoot environment issues.Manage production hardware and software resources including coordinating maintenance and outages with infrastructure group.Collaborate with development and software testing teams throughout the release process.Analyze release/deployment processes to identify key areas for automation and optimization.Ensure that release process follows company policies and procedures.

Background:Bachelor's degree in MIS, computer science, engineering or other similar concentration or equivalent experience. 2+ years experience in release management/change management or other similar technical field.

Skills:Strong Perl and Windows/Unix Scripting Database experience a plus ? Oracle/MSSQL skills Software management/development (Java, XML preferred) Excellent problem-solving/troubleshooting skills, fast learner Proven Network/Application troubleshooting Good working knowledge of Unix & NT Administration Apache/Tomcat/Web Services experience a plus Ability to self-manage your own projectsExcellent written and oral communication skillsExperience or interest in Finance a plus
