SCT Banner Student and Finance Consultant

Our client is looking for a SCT Banner consultant for the Birmingham, AL area.? Experience with Banner 7.0 would be a plus.? This position will be more of a functional than technical position.? Our client would like this consultant to be familiar with all modules, specifically Student and Finance.? This individual will be writing interfaces in 142 different areas as well as setting up procedures in the office to enable personnel to use Banner for:? Financial Aid, Meal Plans, Advising, Freshman Orientation, Housing Assignment, Changing of Majors,?Accepting Deposits, etc.?

This is a telecommute position; however, our consultant needs to be within a reasonable driving distance to?Birmingham, AL.?

?

Specific items that?our client?needs?to resolve in a timely manner to support the Banner implementation and go-live dates:

(1)?? Organize, support, help prioritize Banner Student Team issues

(2)?? Guidance in procedures and resolution of errors in testing the following:

a.????? admissions procedures

b.????? faculty advising procedures

c.????? registration procedures,

d.????? review other options of billing schedules and/or procedures,

e.????? automating placing and removing holds,

f.?????? withdrawal procedures,

g.????? procedures for changing majors;

h.????? procedures for assigning housing,

i.?????? procedures for administering meal plans,

j.?????? for grading,

k.????? for generating passwords for new students and faculty;

l.?????? for sending award letters for financial aid awards;

m.??? for accepting deposits,

n.????? for conducting entering freshmen orientations,

o.????? and many more procedures that we are just beginning to test with actual data.

(3)?? ??Resolution of significant problems remaining with student fee assessment and

?????????????? billing, including:

a.????? Problems pro-rating fee assessment adjustments when a student withdraws?

b.????? Incorrect fee assessment for students that register for classes with combinations of both flat-rate tuition and per-hour tuition charges, charging different rates for the same course based on student classification

c.????? Problems that appear may require a change in tuition rates for the 2007 ? 2008 academic year (recommendations for simplification of fee structure)

d.????? Inability in Banner to drop students for non-payment of their bill before classes start (clarify ? drop can be run BUT it drops ALL students for the semester)

e.????? determination of payment requirements for students attending part of terms within a semester

f.?????? Depending on what type of payment policy?our client?implements, registration for Jan Term may have to be delayed from March until mid October

g.????? Timing issues with awarding financial aid and billing for Jan term ?and summer classes

h.????? Change of procedures needed because December bills will include spring charges

i.?????? Timing issues with student housing do not allow housing and meal plan charges for Jan term and summer terms to be in place for student billing

j.?????? Recommendations and review of simplification of the billing schedule plan including set up of billing process to ensure inclusion of memo and authorized aid items on bills and assistance with the interface with the e-bill vendor??

(4)??????? Assistance with resolution and cleanup of 478 duplicate general person records from the student migration and on going duplicates found in Advancement go-live.

(5)??????? Assistance with the timely resolution of data migration errors

(6)??????? Assistance with assessment and training of Institutional and Student reporting staff for numerous reports needed from Banner

(7)??????? Assistance in developing reports for the Data Custodians to detect and enforce our client's data standards

(8)??????? Assistance and advice on administering student health and other privacy issues in Banner

(9)??????? Assistance with transcript procedures and formatting of customized transcripts

(10)???? Assistance with administration and tracking of convocation requirements which are not a feature of Banner

(11)???? Assistance with preparing training manuals/procedures and the actual training of end users (including Help desk (2662) training).

(12)???? Assistance with designing, communicating, obtaining campus acceptance and carrying out a plan to successfully transition to student self registration via Student Self Service.

(13)???? Determination of additional staffing needs for the student administrative offices many automated processes may have to be done manually or will take significantly longer for processes to be completed based on recent decisions made concerning calendar and if crucial interfaces are not completed.

(14)???? Coordinate informational upgrade to Banner 7.3 between student areas
